CBD Made Easy
CBD Explained
There are a large number of CBD products on the market at the moment and it can be quite confusing understanding all of the different chemical names and terms. However, before you buy any CBD products, it is important to understand what you are putting into (or on) your body.
What is CBD?
CBD stands for Cannabidiol (CBD) and is one of the most commonly found, naturally occurring, active compounds in hemp and cannabis (marijuana) plants. Like many other flowers and herbs, the cannabis plant has various species which are broadly categorised into either hemp or cannabis.
The mostly commonly recognised of these is the cannabis (marijuana) plant, which has been made famous for giving people that 'high' feeling. This is due to another compound called Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which has psychoactive properties. CBD (or Cannabidiol), which is found in greater amounts in the hemp plant, is known to actually counteract the properties of THC and provide therapeutic and soothing effects in its users.
Will it get me 'high'?
No, our CBD products will not get you 'high'. Here at The Chempist, we only use laboratory certified CBD to ensure that our products remain THC free.
How does CBD work?
Whilst we could list all of the evidence of how CBD works, it is probably easier (and more believable) if everyone does their own research on the topic to understand the full benefits of CBD. We always advise our customers to be aware of what they put in and on their bodies.
In the simplest of terms (for those who don't want to use a popular search engine), when ingested, CBD either blocks or activates various receptors in the brain that are associated with our mood, sleep, body temperature, inflammation and appetite (amongst others).
All of our products state the CBD dosage in milligrams (mg). This gives you an indication of the strength of the product you are buying. We always recommend starting with a small dosage for all of our supplements, and then increasing as required. If you have seen any CBD products without the mg dosage, we would advise not to buy these.
Please note our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Is it Legal and Safe?
Always consult your doctor before taking any CBD supplements.
CBD is legal (more on this later), and if taken as advised, safe to use. However, we would advise not to use CBD if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and never exceed the recommended dosage.
It should be noted that CBD can affect the way that your liver enzymes metabolise prescription medications, and therefore can raise their levels in the blood in a similar way that grapefruit juice does. Therefore, if you are on any medication, please speak to your doctor before taking any CBD products.
Now the legal part. This can be complicated but essentially CBD is legal in the UK as long as it has under 0.2% THC. All of the CBD we use is extracted from industrial hemp containing no more than 0.3% THC. It is then further refined to 0% and laboratory tested to ensure that we use only the highest-quality, natural and legal CBD in our products.
